The railroad was the determining factor in the North defeating the South in the U.S. Civil War. By extending the railroad westward, it helped to create the biggest economic expansion civilization has ever seen. As early as 1890, US railroad civil engineers imagined rail traffic from Los Angeles to Alaska, and bridging the Bering Strait to Siberia. The last Czar of Russia, Nicholas ll, designated funds for building a land Bridge across the Bering Strait. He was dissuaded by his advisors before the project got underway.
Prosperity in never more evident than in China. The Chinese feel they can bring the world into harmony by nations working together for worldwide economic development and prosperity. The idea being, "We all do better when we all do better." So they ask, "Can China, working with the US, bring the world together through economic development and prosperity?"
By fostering economic ties through seamless transportation links across cultures and borders, this monumental project offers hope for enhanced collaboration in addressing global challenges while creating new opportunities for communities on both sides of the strait.
Lincoln's Legacy
Lincoln expanded the U.S. through railroad expansion. Otto von Bismarck of Germany, in 1889, admired Lincoln's legacy of economic development and prosperity via rail throughout the nation. A Nobel prize winner, his rail system unified the divided German kingdoms and solidified her borders. Germany then formed an alliance with Russia around the idea of a railroad spanning all of Europe. The intention was to create a trade route through Europe that would bring economic development and prosperity to all of Europe. World War 1 intervened instead.

Progress continued towards connecting the world community by rail. Most recently the Euro-Asian land bridge brought Europe, India, China, Russia and South Africa together with rail connections. The project was successful for bringing prosperity and economic development to the areas.
The Russian Plan
In 2007 the Russians proposed a tunnel under the Bering Straits for a rail, fiber-optic and oil pipeline. They offered $62 billion for their share of the estimated $120 billion. The US would pay the rest. The U.S. didn't take the deal. We felt it was just Russia's intent to wake Europe up to the reality of International Oil. What makes the deal suspicious to the US is that there are no International Standard Gauge tracks for two thousand miles of the Siberian Peninsula.
A Permanent Idea
The idea of a bridge, or tunnel, or combination of both across the Bering Strait from Alaska to Siberia has been around for generations. The connection has been accepted and supported by world leaders. The plan is never negated, it never goes away, it just fades in and out. This time China wants to drill a tunnel one hundred twenty miles long. This time the US is officially closing its collective eyes and holding their hands to their ears, stamping their feet and whining, "I'm not listening, I'm not listening."

Economic Development and Prosperity

Silk Road
You could travel from Seattle to New Deli by train. China has spent one hundred billion dollars for expanded development of Silk Road highway and railway in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. Containers are already being transported on a route from Beijing to Madrid that is over thirteen thousand kilometers.

Imagine Seattle to London by Rail
By extending the railroad across the Alaska Land Bridge, we can have physically connected open commerce, all the way from Iran to Rio de Janeiro, by rail. China is willing to pay the entire cost of development of the rail line. China believes that, with Russian and American support, a tunnel under the Being Strait, connecting North and South America to Europe and Asia via the extended Silk Road will bring economic development and prosperity, ergo peace, to the entire world.

Let There Be Peace
Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, with the help of North and South American governments want to renew the idea. Will Putin relinquish his claim to the Ukraine if President Trump can put together a Bill to Build a Beautiful Burrow to help the U.S. and Russian economies? This will open the Russian oil by pipeline market to North and South America. That is something Putin will be willing to consider in exchange for peace in Ukraine.
